Yesterday, a user on Reddit shared this image along with the description below. And we just had to share it with you:
“Heading home on the Q train yesterday when this young African American guy nods off on the shoulder of a Jewish man. The man doesn’t move a muscle, just lets him stay there. After a minute, I asked the man if he wanted me to wake the kid up, but he shook his head and responded, ‘He must have had a long day, let him sleep. We’ve all been there, right?’
He was still sleeping soundly when I got off the train 20 minutes later.
It was a small gesture, but a kind one. I love New Yorkers!”
What a wonderful reminder that every moment is a chance to do something good for another person. And not only that, but inspire the others around us with our small but powerful actions.

  2. It happened to me once before. I was riding the work bus headed back home after a long day of work inside hanger under the worst conditions ever. The temperature was above 105 F, and I kept on working for like 9 hours in this weather. Anyway, I fell asleep on the shoulder of an older engineer sitting next to me, then my lower jaw dropped a bit and of course I was sweating in that hot weather. Amazingly the man didn’t wake me up for more than 45 minutes until the bus reached town.

    However, I deeply feel that referring to these two people as “a kid” and “a man” would be yet another step towards a better world.

  10. Appreciated your take on the subject. I have put all the religion and philosophy books away now and try to live by a simple mantra – never be the cause of anyone’s misfortune and never pass up an opportunity to perform a charitable deed. I was born on Staten Island, Port Richmond in 1949 but have been in Miami since I was 5 years old. Thanks visit my blog.
