As we all know, the mainstream media news tends to focus on stories and themes of a negative nature; terrorism, war, disaster, political scandal, disease, economic gloom, sexual scandal, violence and crime…
Like many others, at Kindness Blog we feel that the good in our world far outweighs the bad. As such, wouldn’t it be a lovely change if the major ‘News’ organisations started reflecting this in the content they deliver into tens of millions of homes everyday.
As 2013 draws to a close, please don’t believe the media’s doom-and-gloom hype. The world really is full of good people!
Made smile!!! Beautiful post!!

The reason W-H-Y the media have the tendency to focus on the negatives is because the negatives sells better than good news, after all, who, would want to hear about how a puppy had made a little boy smile, compared to say, children who died from abuse and neglect, and that, is because the news have this way of focusing too much on the negatives, when what we need now, more than ever, is the good news that keeps people’s hopes alive inside.

Very insightful, thank you.
Why do the bad stories sell more though? Is it simply a reflection of our human nature?

The reason why, i think (but that’s still JUST me!!!) bad stories sell more, is because people want to feel good about themselves, and if they get bombarded with ALL the good news, like all the positives, like how someone managed to save a child chasing a puppy out onto a street, and the like, then, they’d continue to feel very BAD about themselves, and people NEED to feel good about themselves, even IF it’s at the cost of belittling someone else.

Whenever you feel jaded and think there aren’t any good people left in the world, look at this great collection of examples of goodness still alive and present in the heart of mankind.
This comes to you from my good friend at The Kindness Blog on WordPress.com.

This is so uplifting and missing from our media today. We get one feel good story every once in a while, but human nature is worth more than one here and there. Thank you for the inspiration to do more good than harm in our world.

Couldn’t agree more that the world is full of good people but we just don’t see enough of it through our media. I have just today written a blog about this which I hope you will enjoy and can share http://itsallgoodradioshow.com/2014/09/16/time-to-switch-over-to-a-new-age-of-positive-solution-led-journalism/
