  1. There is also a line in the Bible that goes something like this: Let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing.

I have always tried to do that in my life but sometimes people figure it out and you can’t help that. What it means to me is that if you do a good turn, don’t tell others about it or brag…. like going to church just to be seen there, not to actually become a better person.

  2. I think it’s when people brag and boast about their good deeds. The person that always reminds people that they did this good deed or that good deed. We need to be humble and know that we are doing it because we want to, it makes us feel good rather than receiving recognition for it.

  3. Great post. I think your point is valid. Do the kind act. If it is anonymous or not, do the kind act. One advantage of your kindness being known is you may be changing someone’s judgmental perspective of you or people who look like you. Example 1 – if you had an arms length relationship with someone, then by doing the kindness, you may be “beginning a beautiful friendship” as Rick said to Louie at the end of “Casablanca.” Example 2 – what if someone who looks like he has nothing, gives of themselves to others. That giving, when you have little to give, may make a world of difference to someone. Anonymous is still good, but so is doing known good deeds.

  4. I loved this post and completely agree. The more we do for others regardless of whether or not they are aware of it, the more we do for ourselves. I love freaking out people, male and female, by making an effort to hold a door open for them. It’s such a simple thing, but it always brings a smile and a thank you. Some days, we need to here someone say “thank you.” You know?
