be kind for everyone is fighting a hard battle

I Witness(ed) a True Act of Kindness Today From a Customer.

be kind for everyone is fighting a hard battleSo I work at an auto-part store and today I had the most amazing thing happen.

So this old lady comes in and I greet her and ask if she needs any help. Well her car battery turned out to be bad and she needed a new one. I looked it up and it cost $110 after turning in her old one. She agrees and I go grab it, I ring it up and with the $15 core charge it comes out to around $136.

She slides her debit card and it gets declined. She kind of sighs and she gets out her credit card and it is declined again.

I can see she is almost in tears so I decide to remove the core charge in good faith that she will bring the old battery in and I take 10% off the purchase. She is very thankful and we try to slide her card again and its declined. Now I’m feeling very bad.

There was a lady that was being helped right next to us and she notices that the card was declined. She asks the lady if everything is okay. The old lady answers that she’s okay but unfortunately doesn’t have enough to buy the battery. She then tells me that she will be back to buy the battery after she goes and borrows some money from one of her siblings.

Then the amazing thing happens, the other lady tells her not to worry that she will buy the battery for her.

The old lady burst into tears and tells the other lady that its fine she doesn’t have to do it, but the lady doesn’t take no for an answer. She swipes her card and pays for the battery.

This old lady is in tears, I’m trying my best not to cry and so is my other coworker. The lady tells the old lady that she had recently got some money from an inheritance and that she didn’t really need it. So she figured she would do a good deed and help someone out in need.

I ask the old lady if she had anyone to put her new battery in and she replied no, that she was planning on taking it to a shop.

I told her not to worry that I would install her battery for her.

She started crying again and hugs the other lady and then runs up to me and hugs me.

I drove her to where her car was stranded and changed her battery. She was so thankful and told me that today would have been a horrible day if it wasn’t for me and the other lady. She tried to hand me a $20 bill for gas but I refused telling her this was my good deed for the day.

I’ve never seen such an act of kindness like I did today and I will never forget this day. There [were] a lot of tears shed today by everyone.

Great Post on the Meaning of the Word, Kindness. Debate it all you want. Back to the Greek or the Hebrew if you like but if it doesn’t DO something… Anything to help and encourage someone else, it’s just a Word. Thank You so much for this Post. -mike

If we all did one good deed every day what a wonderful world we would have. I have been so blessed to have an awesome neighbor who has taken me to Dr. Appt. Picked up groceries. And was even going to take me to a very late MRI appt. That had been surprisingly bumped up. I HaVE BEEN UNABLE TO USE RIGHT ARM AND THEY Have been so wonderful. Hubby will be home tonite (surprised me too) so I need to do something great to pass on all the kindness I have been receiving. Pass on the kindness

  4. So much amazingness in one short story. The fact that the lady was so detached from the inheritance that she was able to share it rather than keep it to herself; that she was so generous; that she inspired someone else to also help this poor lady. And now all the comments on this blog. What can I say–a kind gesture always goes so much further than we ever could imagine!

  5. my story is about a young girl who played on my basketball team and her name is Taylor. She is a fun to be around young lady and the entire team enjoys her humor and she works hard on the court. The last game of the season comes around at our home court the game is close and Taylor has the ball and is driving to the basket a defender steps into her path to the basket and Taylor runs into her knocking her down and she hits her head pretty hard on the floor, her eyes roll back and almost immediately grabs the back of her head.the coach from the opposing team runs out checking to make sure she is okay and a first responder who is there watching the game comes running out and holds her head still until she can be evaluated by a paramedic. So 9-1-1 is called and the ambulance is on its way and Taylor is on the bench worrying that she has injured this young lady. 15 – 20 minutes have passed the paramedics finally arrived and they check the young girls pupils and decide she has a concussion they get her up and she starts walking towards her bench with applause from the crowd and players and Taylor runs over to her like its her best friend that she has injured and puts her arms around her in genuine apology and gratitude that she is okay and almost the entire team breaks down into weeping for that great act of love and compassion and caring for a fellow sister in this world.
