First there was…
Then we saw…
…and now we learn about…

- Every Wednesday since 2005, Sherry Wood has cut, colored and highlighted. It’s considered her day off from being a hair stylist, but instead of hanging out at home, she offers her services for free at Wayside Mission, a homeless women’s shelter in Raleigh, N.C. She accepts no payment except the “boost of confidence” that she says she inevitably sees once she has finished with her clients. “A lot of that is they’ve either never had a professional hair cut or they’ve been on the street and don’t have any way to get it,” Wood told WDRB. “They’re all wonderful I love them it’s like family here. They treat me well.”

Love this. I recall a restaurant out west that says pay what you can to anyone. Those who can, pay more.

My wife would especially like this one with one of its owners. Thanks for sharing.

When my husband was ill, and in the hospice program, volunteers came to give him haircuts. Not only did he receive haircuts, but there was a lovely young, talented lady who came to pleasure him (and me) with her guitar and songs. And there was a very nice gentleman, a retired fireman, who came once a week to keep my husband company. He was so friendly and a beautiful human being. There are so many people – “unsung heros” – who care.
