Matthias Steiner of Germany attempts a lift during the Men's 105 kg group weightlifting event.

Matthias Steiner Promised his Wife That one day he Would win a Gold medal in the Olympics.

Amazing video.  Matthais Steiner, a German power-lifter, had promised his wife he’d win a gold medal in the Olympics one day. Sadly, following his promise, she died in a car accident in 2007.

The video below is of Steiner’s last lift.  He had already secured the silver medal but needed to lift 259kg (569lb) to win the gold medal.  While the announcer says it is 10kg, the amount is 20kg more than Steiner had ever lifted.  At these insanely high amounts of weights, another 20kg is an unheard of leap!  Watch this triumphant moment and his explosion of emotion!

Love is all powerful!
