Just as I, Just as You – by Melissa Jennewein

This article is lovingly dedicated to the woman on the left. Kristina has been a very good friend of mine for over 2 decades. I started a Facebook page called kindness is my religion awhile back and she has since taken it over and posts beautiful messages daily. Kristina is the most beautiful soul I have ever met and continues to inspire me in every way. 

Her moonbeam smile and sparkling eyes lit up even the darkest of my moods. As the layers of pent up and repressed emotions slowly fall away, painfully, I seek out her guidance. I am a goddess, just as she, just as you.

Her simple acts of continued kindness and support have kept me going on this long journey into my soul, and I see her face many times in my dreams. She is an angel, a soldier of peace, just as I, just as you.

She held my hand as another angel fell, and flew into the next realm. She held my hand as I crossed the Sahara and spoke to the gods, goddesses and demons there. She held my hand when I stumbled and crawled, and gently spoke heart filled loving words of encouragement to me as I trekked on. She is a guiding star, just as you, just as I.

The miles that separate us can never dull the respect I have for her. The distance can never separate our souls as she has shown me that we are indeed one. The kindness she has always bestowed upon me and so many others carries on – through passing it forward, or reflecting on it’s passing. She does these things not for recognition, but because it is simply who she naturally is. Just as I, just as you.

This angel disguised in human form has touched so many lives, and will carry on her work as she is a light carrier; a torch barer. I carry her magic in my backpack as I venture forward, I carry her charm in my pocket as I cross borders, I carry her love in my heart as I look within ever more deeply. Recognizing and admiring this beautiful soul has become part of my daily ritual as I strive to shine as brightly as she. Just as you. Just as I.

This post is dedicated not only to her, but to you; to me. We are one, we are all connected, we are all born of stardust. Shining brightly is our way, and this light has ripples that can reach beyond borders, across the miles, and into the universe. But for many, it is not our darkness that we fear, it is our light. Do not fear who you are – actively seek your light and shine on…

 Melissa Jennewein is a wanderer, wanderlust pursuer, drifter, seeker of laughter and love, and giver of free hugs.. In 2012 she donated 98% of her belongings and has been backpacking the world ever since then. She decided that it was time to chase inspiration, challenge herself, and search for the answers that she was seeking to the secrets of the universe- both the internal and external universe and the connection in between that is. So far along this journey she has visited over 20 countries on 3 continents, and 32 of the US states.
