“Fame is all around us and always has been although it has been portrayed in different forms. In People magazine, we read about Kim Kardashian every day or hear about the world’s most beautiful woman. We read about singers, actors and actresses, and sports figures. We can’t get away from it.
Is that truly what Americans care about?
I think it is the unsung heros who make a huge difference in this world. It is the people who become prisoners of war fighting for freedom. It is the social worker who listens to people’s problems. It is the pastor who gives and gives.
The people who get stars in heaven are the people who have true peace and joy are those who give of themselves. People who get gratification from their work and good deeds are those who give from the heart. My mom is an example of someone who gives and doesn’t ask for anything in return. She has always been there for me. She gives and does so without fanfare.
In America, we reward the smart, the beautiful and the talented. It’s time to look beyond the surface to see the truly deserving ones — the generous, the humble, the compassionate and the kind. I think of Mother Teresa, who didn’t want to be famous. She lived among the poorest of the poor. She gave from her heart and mind. I want to be like that. I want to help those who are hurting, the shunned, the poor and the disabled. Let’s reach to those who may not be able to ever repay us or make us famous for our service. Let’s be examples of true courage and compassion. Let’s make kindness popular and famous.”

Thank you for the clarification. I have only been blogging for a few months and, genuinely, was not aware of any such agreements. How/where can I learn about this kind of rule?

I am new as well it is a unwritten rule just something that everyone who blogs understands. It is a way to get likes and or comments on the blogs you post. Normally if you don’t use the like button on a persons new post they wont like yours, which could explain why you don’t have to many likes on your post. You don’t HAVE to do this but if you don’t want to let me know and I will quit following you. its basically your choice if you want you blogs to be read and noticed or not 🙂

Thanks again for the advice.
I tend to follow blogs that look interesting but I only like posts that I really enjoyed *and*, obviously, actually saw. As I follow so many blogs on here, I do not have the time to really read everything that everyone posts, so I probably miss the great majority of what people write. However, I follow those blogs because I liked something and wanted to read more in due course.
Unfortunately, I cannot promise to like or comment on all or even most of your posts although I will certainly keep an eye out for them.
In Peace.

It’s important to continue getting the message out that being kind is a sign of strength, not weakness. Here’s one writer who’s doing just that. Our thanks to the Kindness Blog from Serendipity Chronicles.
