A powerful image of loss that also speaks of understanding, friendship and love…
One Redditor commented:
“Actually, it can be very beneficial to other pets in the household to be given an opportunity to inspect/smell the body of a recently passed house buddy. They understand death.
And while I would never be so anthropomorphic as to ascribe feelings of “closure” to such a viewing, I do believe that on some level they do understand what has happened and it is easier on them than the sudden disappearance of a pal.”

Yes…this is totally the right thing to do re the ‘other’ pet if possible…animals are such sentient beings. I will hug my fur-baby more closely…a little longer today….xxxx

We have always done this when a pet has died. It is so moving and sad but necessary.
