Roald Dahl’s Sweet Letter Thanking a Little Girl

In 1989, a little girl named Amy sent a bottle of colored water, oil and glitter to Roald Dahl, who knew right away that this was a dream in a bottle inspired by his book, The BFG. In response, the author penned this short note to his 7-year-old fan. – (via aster109)

  1. Roald Dahl was, in my opinion, one of the greatest writers of the late twentieth century. When I was a child I, as an absolutely uncountable number of others, spent hours and hours lost in his stories. One of my favourites is ‘Danny The Champion of the World’; I can still picture the sleeping pheasants falling out of the beech trees πŸ™‚ When I was a child I remember going to Great Missenden library (I grew up just nearby) to see a chat by the man who inspired the BFG, an old friend of Roald. It was uncanny, even the ears! Roald Dahl; wonderful childhood memories πŸ™‚ Thanks
