Chen Xiaotian was only 7 when he was diagnosed with the brain tumor that would kill him.
If that wasn’t enough bad news for his family, his mother Zhou Lu was diagnosed with kidney disease. They both would need to struggle just to live a shadow of the life everyone else has.So, Chen made a brave decision as he got worse. He asked his mother just to let him die… so that she may live.
Chen Xiaotian was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor just months before his own mother discovered she had kidney disease.
For years they both battled their conditions. Eventually, Chen was blinded and basically paralyzed as a result of his tumor.
Doctors knew he would die soon. They also knew he would be a match for his mother, who needed a kidney. Zhou Lou, however, refused to take it.
Chen overheard her refusal and went to her, urging his mother to take the kidney.
He wanted to save her life.
She finally agreed, knowing a piece of her son would live on in her.
He passed away on April 2nd and the kidney was given to his mother.
Before that, doctors were unsure if Zhou could ever live a normal life.
Now, thanks to her son, she will.
Before the surgery to remove the kidney, the doctors had a moment of silence in the operating room. There wasn’t a dry eye as they said goodbye to heroic Chen, who was about to save the life of his mother and two other recipients of his organs.Chen’s sacrifice and bravery are incredible, please share his story.

This is what Unconditional Love does- It forsakes self even unto death to give life to those around them. In a world based on protecting self at all costs, this little guy is a true Gem and outshines us all. Thank you, Chen, for your selfless love and example.

How moving! What a selfless act by one so young indeed!
May I respectfully offer another perspective? I lost my youngest daughter to cancer two years ago. Watching your child die and being powerless to alleviate the pain & suffering is the most excruciating agony I’ve ever known. With what remains of the pieces of my life, with the agony only dulled and not removed, every day still feels empty. I can’t even imagine what his mother is going through, carrying in her body a reminder that her son is dead. Makes me cry even contemplating this. 😭
