Anonymous Person is Leaving Stashes of Cash in the San Francisco Bay Area

Hidden Cash is the Twitter handle of an anonymous person who is leaving stashes of cash in public places in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In a recent email exchange, the person said he had made “millions of dollars” in the San Francisco real estate market and was looking for a way to give back. (He also said he gives to a variety of charities.) The person says he intends to stash cash once or twice a week and has no plans to stop. Clues are posted on the Twitter account.

“I’ve made millions of dollars the last few years, more than I ever imagined, and yet many friends of mine, and people who work for me, cannot afford to buy a modest home in the Bay Area,” the person wrote in the email. “This has caused me quite a bit of reflection. I am determined to give away some of the money I make, and in addition to charity, to do it in fun, creative ways like this.”

  1. I am not sure how I feel about this; I realise it is well intended and meant to be a fun thing too, and he does state that he also gives to charity but the poorest of people will not have twitter accounts or iphones…..

  2. Now, that’s what I call a real person; a real human being who cares. He could just go on enjoying his money, but his decision to “spread the wealth” is extremely generous. I am wondering about his giving clues on his Twitter account, though.
