I work at a school as a college counselor but since we have grades k -12 I have lunch duty with 2nd graders.
Today one of the students who doesn’t really get along well with the others forgot his lunch at home and didn’t have money to buy a school lunch. So he sat there crying until a group of kids came up to him and each gave him something from their lunch.
They returned to their seats and i asked them why they did it since I knew they didn’t like him.
One little boy’s response was “Because he was sad and hungry miss. Just cause we don’t like him, doesn’t mean we want him to be sad and hungry”
Needless to say, I didn’t enforce the no sharing food policy.

From the voice of children comes the right answer. Many adults are searching for answers like this. Well done.
