So I don’t know if it’s maybe the pregnancy hormones or the fact that my friends keep dying left and right, but i almost broke down weeping when i was just stopped at a traffic light and…
…watched this woman stop her car so ALL THE GEESE COULD CROSS THE ROAD.
I was like. “YOU CROSS THE STREET GEESE!! YOU ARE FREE GEESE AND THERE IS HUMAN KINDNESS !!! GO!!!! GO!!!!!! THERE IS HOPE FOR US AFTER ALL”

I’ve seen this too. And I wonder whether the person who is stopping for the geese is off to lunch to eat cows, chickens, pigs, lambs or the secretions of exploited nonhuman animals. People are so disconnected from the truth of their choices. If you want to practice kindness, then please recognize our moral obligation not to treat other sentient beings as “things.”

Beth, that’s an interesting observation. For discussion’s sake, can I ask what you mean, specifically, by ‘moral obligation’?
Thank you.
Best, Mike.

Hey Amanda, Congratulations to you and Neil. It is very moving to feel we are part of a larger nature, isn’t it.
