A Healthy Relationship: Physical Activity and Mental Health

Mental Health. It is becoming increasingly prevalent within
society with one in five Australians aged 16-85 experiencing mental illness
each year. Almost half of Australians (45%) will experience a mental illness in
their lifetime. This is not acceptable.

Mental health is a broad issue with many different cause,
factors and consequences. This article will focus on the importance of physical
activity in creating positive mental health concerning youth.

With the rise in new technology and its increased availability,
playing soccer at the park has turned to playing soccer on the TV. Messaging
friends online and talking on Skype has replaced meeting up at the shopping
centre or going bowling on a Saturday afternoon. Technology certainly has many
advantages, but it has contributed to the decline of physical activity within
the youth of Australia.
