Wyatt Erber, 8, of Edwardsville, background, recently won $1,000 in First Clover Leaf Bank’s summer Scavenger Hunt contest, then promptly gave the money to the family of his neighbor, Cara Kielty, 2, foreground, who is undergoing treatment for leukemia. Wyatt said he wanted the Kieltys to use the money to help pay for Cara’s medical care.
“Wyatt’s big heart and sense of caring is beyond his years,” said Rachel Case, the marketing specialist at the bank in charge of the scavenger hunt. “We want to recognize Wyatt for the hometown hero that he is. I just get goose bumps thinking about what he did.”
