Even Though Stricken by Poverty and Hunger, This Extraordinary Man Feeds Stray Dogs Instead of Himself

A true act of generosity is when you share something you need with someone who needs it more than you do. But isn’t this easier said than done? For example, would you share your food with someone when you were hungry?

Here’s someone who does.

Kamala Lochan Baliarsingh

Kamala Lochan Baliarsingh is a homeless man, who lives on the streets of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. For this 60-year-old man, the pavement is a bed and collecting plastic bottles at the railway station, a job; one that pays him nothing at all. And despite his living conditions, he makes it a point to feed his stray dogs every day.

A YouTube video on him shows how the old man “forages through empty train coaches for leftover food”, considers his 6-7 pets his priorities and feeds them food every day; even if it means staying hungry himself. And this has been his routine for the past three decades. Hats off to this amazing man, we say.

Take a look at his incredible story:

How many if you remember the Disney movie Aladdin?
Sure, we recently lost one of it’s major stars, but I’m recalling one scene in the beginning of the movie.
Aladdin and his monkey just barely escaped the guards with a loaf of bread they stole. Just as they’re about to dig into the spoils, they see two children going through trash to find something to eat. Without hesitation Aladdin hands over the bread and walks away.

It’s extraordinary when you can look and help someone when your own situation is far from perfect.

  2. Those that have less…give more. Think of all the money celebrities have, most of them owning mutiple high-end vehicles. I understand they work hard for their money but rather then bragging about your 7 Bentleys why not buy a homeless man a car or rent him/her an apartment so they can turn their life around. I can’t stand the flashy flashy when so many people in our country are impoverished. This is proof that those that have less give more. He’s inspiring.

  3. What a spectacular story! He sounds like a very special man and I am sure he is being rewarded by his dogs’ love everyday. Food fills your tummy, but love fills your heart, soul and mind. 🙂
