Help us get Angel to Boston
by Rayna Malone
My daughter Angel Rayne was born with hypoplastic Right Heart, which means only half of her heart developed.
I live in Wichita, Kansas but because of Angel’s heart problem I had to be flown to Children’s Mercy in Kansas city to have her.
She was born by C-section at 32 weeks and I was told that if she survived birth she would have to have heart surgery right away. Angel was born on a Tuesday afternoon and I remember hearing her take her first breath and crying. I have never been so thankful. Her cry was the most beautiful sound.
Angel was very tiny at 2 lbs 13 oz, so she was too small for her first surgery.
I prayed that her heart would stay strong for her little body so she could reach the 6 lbs she needed to be for an operation. Within the first 24 hours of her making her beautiful début, we also found out that Angel had Diabetes.
At about 5-weeks old we found out that she did not have a gallbladder and her bile duct next to her liver did not develop properly.
The doctors were very confused on how to handle saving Angel’s life. Because of her heart condition they could not do the surgery to save her liver, and because of the severity of her Diabetes she will not make it through her first heart surgery.
We found out at 9 weeks that she had a backwards gene, so during the development of her organs, everything just stopped.
The doctors think that she has a year at the most to live.
I have two sons aged 2, and 4 and my husband has not been able to work because he has stayed at the hotel room with our boys trying to make life seem as normal as possible for them, while I am at the hospital with our lovely Angel.
It has been a very emotional 14 weeks with my precious Angel.Since the doctors plan here at the hospital where I am is to send us home to a hospice, their recommendation is that she doesn’t get the surgeries that would save her life. Without them she will not live to be a year old.
My plan is to take her to Boston to doctors that can do what she needs to be done to try and save her life.
I am asking for donations to help me do this because I want to give my precious Angel all the chance in the world at life.
We just need help financially to do this.
I am so thankful for all the love and support that everyone has given to Angel and our family.
Thank you, Rayna Malone.
