When my wife was dying from cancer…one of the cleaning ladies…who didn’t even speak much English….brought her a small stuffed animal her mother had hand sewn.
She said that she needed someone to watch over her when I was too tired to keep my eyes open.
I never saw her before, I never saw her again, but this stranger understood…she knew that I needed something to give me permission to take even a 5 minute break. I didn’t know I was that close to the breaking point.
Been trying to pay that forward ever since.
