Bags of Blessings (Feeding Hungry Children)

Bags of Blessings (Feeding Hungry Children)Today We Bagged Over 5,000 lbs of Food for Children Living in Food Insecure Homes.

This started in part because children would report to the free clinic on Mondays complaining of stomach cramps which turned out to simply be hunger.

The organization takes them to the schools, where they are discreetly distributed to the children.

Sadly, the packages are deliberately designed so they can be hidden. There’s one case where a child would bury it in the backyard so the adults wouldn’t steal the food.

Getting ready to pack Bags of Blessings

Bags of Blessings (Feeding Hungry Children)Today our firm for the second year in a row helped package “Bags of Blessings”, a ministry of the CARE Center in New Hope, Alabama.

  1. Well done. We throw away about 40% of our food in the US, much of directly from the farms as unpicked items, which are not pretty enough for the big grocers. It is cheaper for the farmers to throw it away. A bill on Congress stalled to provide incentives for the farmers to get these vegetables and fruits to people in need. Please write your Congressional representative and senator to make this happen. As an aside, rotting fruit in landfills releases methane into the air which wreaks more havoc.
