In winter, you don’t always feel loved by the weather. The wind is biting your cheeks and nose. The rain is slapping you across the face.
Summer is different. It’s easier to feel the kindness of nature toward you. It wants to nurture and spoil you. Feel its gentleness and generosity. Allow this glorious season to feed your body and mind.
Body
Beautiful summer days are a real treat to your body. Only one left to go.
Make full use of it. Take long walks, watch wildlife, light bonfires, and sleep under the open sky. We were not designed to spend our whole lives indoors so get out of those four walls. “Eat” summer with your eyes. Consume it with all your senses. Your belly and your skin will be particularly pleased.
Belly
Now is the time to stuff yourself with quality fruit and veg that are in season.
Strawberries available to you in winter are usually shipped from thousands of miles away. They will never beat the taste of your locally grown strawberries that only come out once a year. Go for all the different tastes and colors. Smell them, look at them in adoration and then bite into them! Your body will be grateful.
Skin
Your skin lusts after the gorgeous summer days when it gets to enjoy a bit of “showing-off”!
Expose it to all the sensations that nature is able to stimulate it with. Let it be kissed by the sun, by the drops of warm rain, by the wind and the waves of the sea. Get those sensitive soles walk on grass, stone or water. Let your palms explore the gentle flower petals and the rough texture of the tree bark.
Spirit
Celebrate the freedom of shedding off those thick layers of clothing. But most importantly, value and don’t compromise the freedom to be yourself.
Don’t get obsessed with the way your body looks. Don’t torture yourself comparing your shape to all those air-brushed men and women in the adverts. There’s no need to stress about getting that perfect beach body.
Endlessly worrying about weight and fashion is a waste of time. It just kills joy in life.
Technology
If you want to fully experience summer through your eyes, you’ve got to get them off that screen, and your hands – off that keyboard.
All your electronic devices are best banned from sight. This is, of course, unrealistic. What you could do is commit to limiting the time you spend on your phone or laptop. Stop texting and tweeting.
Go and meet people. Spend quality time with them under the wide blue skies.
Southern lifestyle
Allow yourself to get a bit lazy.
Enjoy a longer lunch outdoors or a small picnic in a park. Read a book under a tree or sit outside a coffee shop just watching people. Absorb the buzz of the city magnified by the warmth and the light of the summer. Meet friends for dinner and spend hours chatting away into the night. Take time to savor every minute of every day. Don’t rush, don’t plan, just be.
Feel the nature’s kindness toward you, be filled with its goodness and pass it on to other people.

I’m glad you could relate to it, Debra. We get so addicted to complaining about the news, we miss the precious gifts that are all around us. Then there’s no gratitude for what we do have and no energy for bringing healing where there is pain. Thanks for the comment! Elena
